Hello! My name is Clara Abrahams. I am a 16-year-old soprano living in Northern California for the past ten years. However, I was born in New York City within a few blocks of Carnegie Hall and the Lincoln Center. My musical family instilled in me a deep love and appreciation for opera and classical music from an early age, which has only grown more intense through time.

I currently study voice at Alina Ilchuk’s studio: Sacramento Academy of Musical Arts. With Mrs. Ilchuk’s guidance, I was able to participate in numerous competitions and several prestigious programs for young singers. For example, in 2020, I joined a summer opera program run by the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and performed in a public masterclass with legendary Frederica von Stade. In 2021 I was accepted into Boston University Tanglewood Institute Young Vocal Artists Summer Program, where I have been chosen to sing at the masterclass with a renowned American soprano Carol Vaness. I recently performed in a virtual recital hosted by the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and sang in a virtual masterclass with Grammy Award-winning mezzo-soprano Virginia Kelsey sponsored by the California Capital Chapter of NATS in the spring of 2021.

For the last two years, I have been awarded Grand Prix and First Places in many vocal competitions, including the Colibri International Arts Competition for Young Performers (Los Angeles, CA), the Triumph Music Festival (Philadelphia, PA), the Alley of Stars Art Contest (Kyiv, Ukraine), the Spring Classical Student Auditions & Singing Festival organized by the NATS San Francisco Bay Area Chapter, the New York Virtuoso International Competition, the Art Competition JISKRA (Prague, Czech Republic), the Progressive Musicians Online Classics Competition, and the 2021 Schmidt Vocal Arts Competition – California Cohort.

I want to continue my musical education and pursue a career of an opera singer upon my high school graduation in 2022.
